Ranchi: The effect of the storm that hit Jamshedpur on Monday was visible till the capital Ranchi. Due to sudden reduction in the load of the transmission line, the transformer number-3 of Hatia-2 grid got whistle blasted. Because of this, the electricity of a large part of the capital went off. Power supply remained disrupted for two to three hours in different parts of the city. At the same time, power supply remained stalled for about half an hour in Raj Bhavan, Chief Minister’s residence and other hospitals including RIMS. On the other hand, there was a power failure for two hours at the JBVNL headquarters. However, due to the backup of electricity in VIP areas, there was no problem for long. Due to the alternative arrangement of electricity in RIMS, its effect was not visible.

According to the information, it started raining in Jamshedpur on Monday afternoon with a sudden strong thunderstorm. Due to this the load of the transmission line suddenly reduced. At 2:10 pm, the whistle in the transformer of Hatia-2 grid got blasted. Due to sudden jerk in the line, the supply from all the grids was also stopped. Due to this, there was a power failure in the surrounding areas including the capital. In many parts of the urban area of ​​the capital, there was a power failure for about three hours. Whereas, in the rural areas, electricity remained cut for longer than this. On the other hand, its partial effect was also visible on the railways. Meanwhile, after getting information about defect in CT of transformer number-3 of Hatia Grid-2, the technician and senior officers of the department reached the spot and efforts were started to remove the defect.

After supply disruption, power was made available to Hatia Grid-2 via Namkum Grid from Patratu Circuit. After this, electricity was immediately made available to railways and essential services till 2:45 pm. On the other hand, after the situation in Hatia Grid-2 became normal, 25 MW power was given to Namkum Grid. After this, all the sub-stations were provided with little electricity.

Hatia, Namkum, Kanke, Nagdi, Dhurva, Doranda, Argoda, Kadru, Hinoo, Ashok Nagar, Pundag, Harmu, Piska Mod, Ratu Road, Pahari Mandir, Morhabadi, Deendayal Nagar, Kanke Road, Rinpas, CIP, Madhukam, Kumhar Toli , Upper Bazar, Gadikhana Chowk, Kishore Ganj, Irgu Toli, Ratu, Ratu Chatti, Itki, Gandhi Nagar, Bariatu Road, Circular Road, Budhmu, Mandar, Booti Mod, Ormanjhi, Tatisilway and other surrounding areas.

GM of Ranchi Area Board, PK Srivastava told that in the afternoon, there was a CT blast of transformer number-3 of Hatia Grid-2. Due to this the power supply was stopped. As soon as the information was received, the power supply was normalized by coordinating with the officials of the department. I myself went to the grid and took stock of the situation there. At present, the supply has become normal at all places. The situation is expected to return to normal from Namkum grid also by late night.
