Kanpur: The torch rally of Khelo India University Games 2022 will reach Green Park Stadium in Kanpur at 10 am on May 21. From 11 am to 6 pm, this torch rally will take part in programs and cultural evenings organized in various educational institutions of the city. Torch relay will be held on May 22 from 6 am to 8 am. According to Deputy Director Sports Mudrika Pathak, the city will welcome the rally. National and international players along with the office bearers of all the sports federations will do it. All the players of the city will be present to make the torch rally a success. He told that all the players, sports clubs, coaches, sports associations, sports teachers, youth clubs, Yuvak Mangal Dal, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Youth Welfare department etc. have been invited.

Ananya – Vidit secured the first position

In the under-19 selection competition for the state level chess tournament to be held in Varanasi from May 18, Ananya Srivastava won the first position in the girls’ and Vidit Srivastava’s boys’ category. Their place has been confirmed in the Kanpur team for the state tournament. 43 players took part in the competition held at Dr.Virendra Swaroop Kidwai Nagar School. In Under-15, Siddharth Rathore and Ananya Mishra secured the first position. Observer Alok Gupta and Chief Arbiter Kusum Sharma awarded the winners. District Union Secretary Dilip Srivastava told that Ananya Srivastava, Honorable Agarwal, Vidit Srivastava, Arihan Barolia have been selected in the district team.

Football camp started, will learn closely

The summer football camp to be organized from May 14 to 30 at Palika Stadium by Kanpur Sports Foundation has started. Under-7 to Under-16 age group players will be mastered in the nuances of football under the guidance of experts. In the camp, more than 100 players will be given basic football training by coach Govind Thapa, Derrick Masih. The summer football camp organized every year has produced many state level and national level players who are bringing laurels to the city on the big stage. Former international table tennis player Sanjeev Pathak inaugurated the summer camp at Palika Stadium.
