Lucknow: The case of death of 40 monkeys has come to light in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. These monkeys were found dead under suspicious circumstances near the forest situated on the middle Gang Canal Jhadina Road under Garhmukteshwar Kotwali area. The Forest Department team has started investigating the matter. To find out the cause of death, the bodies of the monkeys have been sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) Bareilly for postmortem. There is a possibility of poisoning the monkeys.

Foam was coming out of the monkeys mouth

About 40 monkeys were found dead in the vacant fields near the forest located on Jhadina Road in Hapur. The villagers passing by the spot gave this information to other people and soon a crowd gathered there. According to people, many monkeys were in a state of semi-consciousness and after some time they died in agony. Foam was coming out of the mouths of the monkeys. It seemed that someone deliberately poisoned the monkeys, causing them to die.

Jaggery-watermelon found on the spot

The local people informed the matter to the police and forest department. At present, the exact cause of death could not be ascertained. Forest Department officials said that the bodies of monkeys have been sent to Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) Bareilly for post-mortem and to know the cause of death. The Forest Department team has found jaggery and watermelon near the dead bodies of the monkeys. There is a possibility that the monkeys have been fed something mixed, due to which they have died. The cause of death will be clear after the postmortem report comes.

Bajrang Dal workers demanded strict action

On the other hand, after getting information about the death of monkeys in a large number at one place, Bajrang Dal workers reached the spot. He demanded an inquiry into the death of the dumb animals. The activists said that strict action should be taken against whoever is found guilty in the investigation.

Forest Department is collecting information

According to forest ranger Karan Singh, on getting the information, she herself along with the forest department team reached the spot and got the investigation done. Prima facie it seems that the monkeys were poisoned. However, it can be said clearly only after the post mortem report comes. Work is being done under the legal process in the matter. The department is also collecting information regarding the episode at other levels, so that the truth can be ascertained.
