Surat: 21-year-old youth drowns in Tapi river near Galteshwar while taking bath with friends

A youth has died while taking bath with his friends under the bridge of Tapi river near the road leading from Timba village to Boghan village near Galateshwar in Kamrej tehsil of Surat district. A 21-year-old youth living in Surat’s Punagaon had gone to bathe in the river with his friends. Meanwhile he drowned in the river and died. Kamrej police have registered a case of accidental death in this whole matter.

Death of a young man who went to bathe in Tapi river

A 21-year-old youth has died by drowning in the Tapi river near Galteshwar Mahadev Temple in Kamrej. The name of the deceased youth has been described as Ashish Khodabhai Kataria and he lived near Sitanagar Chowkdi in Punagam of Surat city. Ashish along with his 6 friends was taking bath in Tapi river under the bridge. Meanwhile, he suddenly drowned in the water. There was chaos regarding this incident.

Kamrej police started investigation

After getting the information of the incident, the fire department and the police fleet also reached the spot. The fire brigade team reached the spot and pulled out his body from the Tapi river. Kamrej police have registered a case of accidental death in this matter. There is mourning in the family due to the death of the son.

At present the summer season is going on and due to vacation in schools, the number of tourists has increased in Galteshwar. Most of the tourists go to take a bath in the water of Tapi river after visiting the Galteshwar temple. Such accidents often happen while taking bath in the deep water of Tapi river. Despite the ban on bathing in the river, tourists go to bathe in the water of the river, ignoring the government information and become victims of such accidents.
