Prayagraj : BJP created history by winning the mayor posts of 17 municipal corporations in Uttar Pradesh municipal elections. On the one hand, while the BJP made a clean sweep, on the other hand, a bad news came out for it from Prayagraj. The BJP has got a humiliating defeat in Mohtsimganj, the home ward of Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, cabinet minister of the Uttar Pradesh government. In Mohtsimganj ward number 80 of the Municipal Corporation, the BJP candidate stood third.

BJP stood third in Mohtsimganj ward

From ward number 80 of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, BJP councilor candidate Vijay Vaish has suffered a crushing defeat in the counting of votes. Independent candidate Kusum Lata Gupta won the election from this ward by getting 1674 votes. Kusum has defeated Samajwadi Party candidate Ishrat Ali by 385 votes. Whereas SP’s Ishrat Ali got 1289 votes. On the other hand, BJP’s Vijay Vaish, who came third, had to be satisfied with only 1275 votes.

BJP got only 150 votes at cabinet minister Nandi’s booth.

Surprisingly, BJP got only 150 votes at booth number 932 of cabinet minister Nand Gopal Nandi in the Yogi government of the state. Let alone the ward, Minister Nandi could not make the BJP candidate win even at his own booth. Minister Nandi’s outgoing mayor wife Abhilasha Gupta Nandi also cast her vote at this booth.

Expressed displeasure over wife’s ticket being cut

Significantly, before the civic elections, the wife of cabinet minister Nand Gopal Nandi was disqualified from the Prayagraj mayor seat. In 2017, Abhilasha Nandi, wife of Nand Gopala Nandi was made his candidate and she also won from this seat. At the same time, after his wife’s ticket was cut, cabinet minister Nand Gopal Nandi had also expressed his displeasure and had even said that some people are running the BJP like a private limited.
