Karnataka Election Results: Congress is returning to power in Karnataka with a clear majority. In the counting of votes held on Saturday, the Congress has won 136 seats in the 224-member assembly. This is the biggest victory of the Congress after the 1989 assembly elections. BJP has won 65 seats. JDS has got 19 seats. With this, the Congress has returned to power in Karnataka on its own after 10 years. At the same time, this is the second defeat of the BJP after Himachal Pradesh in December last year. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday submitted his resignation to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot following the BJP’s defeat in the assembly elections.
