Two fragmented idols have been found again during cleaning from the cyclone (Sitakund) located in the middle of Mandar mountain, a symbol of religious, cultural and historical heritage. It may be known that the historic Cyclone Kund is being cleaned for the last 20 days. More than several feet of silt was removed from the lake. It is being estimated that there is still more than 10 feet of silt deposited in the lake. At the same time, different types of idols are being found continuously from inside this lake.

Whose idols are emerging continuously?

Fragmented idol of Lord Vishnu was found from here. Just two days after that two fragmented statues were found here again. If historian Udayesh Ravi is to be believed then there is a statue of Dwar Sevika in it. There was a trend of making such attendants or maids in the idols of Gods and Goddesses. It was a tradition to carve such idols at the door. The idols with doors are called Dwar Sevika.

Although the historian also says that it could be a part of a bigger statue. This idol seems to be of Carnatic style. While the second statue is not yet clear, but they believe that it is also a part of the temple architecture.

Mandar mountain is the witness of the churning of the ocean

The historian said that a lot of information can be obtained after seeing these fragmented statues from the front. As silt is being taken out from the pool, carved stones along with the amalak, kalash of the temples are also coming out from here. It is known that 14 gems were obtained from the churning of the ocean. When the gods and demons churned the ocean by making Mandar mountain a churn with the serpent Vasuki. At present, many fragmented idols and its ruins are spread in the surrounding areas including Mandar Parvat. The demand for depositing the remains of these idols has increased by making a museum here.
