Mother’s Day is on May 14 this year. This day is dedicated to mother. Here is the day to bow down to the mother. Mother is such a word in which the whole universe is included. When we open our mouth to speak mother, the whole mouth gets filled with the pronunciation of the word. Mother is the idol of Mamta. All the religions of the whole world have considered the relation of mother as the most sacred. A mother’s love, caress, dedication and sacrifice towards her children is priceless. To pay respect to the mother, the second Sunday of May is celebrated as Mother’s Day all over the world.

International Mothering Day is a day to honor mothers and motherhood. There is only one mother who can take the place of all. But no one else can take his place. A mother protects and takes care of her children in every way. That’s why mother is called another form of God. A mother is a person who carries her child in her womb for nine months. No matter what happens, a mother’s affection for her children never diminishes. She is more concerned about the comforts of her children than herself. A mother has the courage to face the biggest calamities to protect her child.

Being a mother means being completely overwhelmed with responsibility and selflessness. Motherhood means sleepless nights. Mother is the best creation of God. No one can sacrifice and love as much as him. Mother is the mother of the world, without her the world cannot be imagined. Mother is our first teacher. That’s why we call the earth also mother earth. Who carries the weight of all of us on herself.

In our country, the cow is also called as mother who makes us grow up by giving us her own milk. Mother is the most important person in our life who just keeps on giving without expecting anything in return. Mother’s love is selfless which we cannot get from anyone else in our whole life.

If seen, the history of Mother’s Day is centuries old. In Greece, this day was celebrated to honor the Mother of God. In the 16th century, the Christian community of England started celebrating this day as a festival to honor Mother Mary, the mother of Jesus. The basic reason for celebrating Mother’s Day is to honor all mothers and salute their great role in raising a child.

The decision to make Mother’s Day official was taken by former US President Woodrow Wilson on May 8, 1914. Woodrow Wilson publicly declared the second Sunday of May to be Mother’s Day and a holiday in honor of mothers. They were understanding that there should be empowerment of mothers with respect and reverence, so that due to the effect of maternal power, the horrors of wars can be stopped. After that Mother’s Day is celebrated every year on the second Sunday of May. Currently it is celebrated in many countries including UK, China, US, Mexico, Denmark, Italy, Finland, Turkey, Australia, Canada, Japan, Belgium along with India.

There are many interpretations of the word mother in Hinduism. In Valmiki Ramayana, Lord Rama has said that “Janani Janmabhumischa Swargadapi Gariyasi”. It means that mother and motherland are better than heaven. There are many views regarding the origin and meaning of the word mother. Different styles have interpreted the word mother. This one syllable mother address is considered to be the most powerful word in the entire universe.

Mother is not just a word but an emotion. It is impossible to describe it in words. Mother is the one who not only gives us birth but also teaches us how to live. A mother is the one who goes to bed hungry herself but does not let her children go hungry. No matter how much trouble she herself is in, she does not express it and even in such a situation, she only prays for the well-being of her children. Mother’s love is deeper than the ocean.

The meaning of every word in the world can be understood and explained. But it is almost impossible to understand and explain the meaning of the word mother. It is impossible to explain the meaning of the word mother because mother’s love, mother’s sacrifice cannot be explained in words. It can only be experienced. The love a mother has in her heart for her children. Even if all the children of the mother try, they cannot pay even a part of it.

Mother is called Matar in Sanskrit. Mother is the best creation of God through whom God communicates and expands His power through His part. According to the Puranas, the meaning of mother is Lakshmi. Just as mother Lakshmi takes care of the creation, in the same way the mother also takes care of the child. In this way the mother was considered as the form of Lakshmi. One opinion is that this universe started with the union of man and woman named Manu and Shatrupa. In the name of Manu, his progeny was called Manuj or Manav. The one who gave birth to Manu’s child was called mother. And thus the word mother originated.

According to Indian culture and some texts, the word mother originated from cow dynasty. When a cow’s calf is born, the first sound it emits in its cry is the mother. That is, the calf calls its birth mother by the name of its mother. In this way, the one who gave birth came to be called as mother.
