Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Saturday said the party would come to power on its own by winning over 120 seats in the 224-member Karnataka Assembly. He also claimed that the election visits of top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had no impact on the voters of the state. This reaction of Siddaramaiah has come at a time when the counting of votes is going on in view of the Karnataka assembly elections and the Congress has maintained an edge over the BJP.

Siddaramaiah said that the visits of Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda have not made any impact on the voters of Karnataka. He said, “The Congress party will win by securing more than 120 seats. This is just the initial stage. More rounds of counting are yet to be completed. That’s why Congress will come to power by getting more than 120 seats on its own.

“I have been saying that Narendra Modi or Amit Shah or JP Nadda may come to the state as many times as they want, but it will have no effect on the voters of Karnataka because people are against the BJP, its corruption, misgovernance and its anti-people politics,” he said. Siddaramaiah leading from Varuna assembly seat
Siddaramaiah is one of the main contenders for the post of Chief Minister. Congress made him a candidate from Varuna assembly seat. He said that he was leading by 8,000 votes after about three rounds and would win by an even bigger margin. Siddaramaiah is pitted against BJP leader V Somanna in Varuna seat. Siddaramaiah claimed that Somanna would lose from Chamarajanagar along with Varuna. Somanna is also the BJP candidate from Chamarajanagar.
