Jalandhar by-election result: Sushil Rinku of AAP won the victory, defeated Karamjit Kaur of Congress

Jalandhar : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku has won the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election in Punjab. He has given a crushing defeat to Congress candidate Karamjeet Kaur Chowdhary. Voting for the by-election on this seat was held on May 10 last and the counting of votes was started from eight o’clock on Saturday morning. Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha has congratulated him on his victory by tweeting.

On the victory of Sushil Kumar Rinku in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election, AAP leader Raghav Chadda wrote in his tweet that the return of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Lok Sabha. Congratulations to Sushil Kumar Rinku on winning the Jalandhar by-election, thanks Jalandhar. He wrote that today’s victory strongly reflects the faith of the people. Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership and Bhagwant Mann’s public support.

Sushil Rinku defeated Karamjit Kaur by 58,522 votes.

According to media reports, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku has got around 2,89,530 votes in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election. On the other hand, Karamjit Kaur Chowdhary of Congress has got around 2,31,008 votes. Whereas, BJP candidate got 1,32,279 votes and Shiromani Akali Dal candidate got 1,48,042 votes. In this by-election, Sushil Kumar Rinku of Aam Aadmi Party has defeated Karamjeet Kaur Chowdhary of Congress by a margin of 58,522 votes.

BJP candidate in fourth place

Let us tell that this seat had become vacant due to the death of Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary in January. Karamjit Kaur is the wife of late Congress leader Santokh Singh Chowdhary. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)-backed Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi is in third place, while Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal is fourth, according to the Election Commission’s website. In the by-election, 19 candidates are in the fray, in which 54.70 percent voting was done. This is much lower than the 63.04 per cent voter turnout recorded in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
