On October 2, 2021, the NCB team under the leadership of Sameer Wankhede raided the Cardilia cruise going from Mumbai to Goa. During this, Aryan Khan, son of actor Shah Rukh Khan, was arrested for possession of drugs. Several people caught by Sameer Wankhede’s team in the raid were accused of being released and demanding extortion for the release of Aryan Khan. It is alleged that at that time a demand of Rs 25 crore was made for not registering a case against Aryan and Rs 50 lakh was extorted. However, Aryan was later granted bail due to lack of evidence. NCB had constituted SIT to investigate these allegations. The corruption of Sameer Wankhede’s team came to the fore in the SIT investigation and on this basis CBI has registered a case against four people including Sameer Wankhede.
