Vadodara: Corporation conducted health checkup of destitute mendicants, 503 patients were found

Under the unique initiative of the Health Department of the Corporation, a unique Seva Yagya was performed to check the health of extremely poor people like beggars, rag pickers and destitute children. The health check-up of the poor was done by the corporation’s health team, consisting of doctors and other staff, who went to areas of the city where such beggars and poor people are regularly found. A total of 2210 people were included in the entire survey. Out of which 415 were children who were doing the work of picking up the garbage on the road. Special care was taken in screening many monks above 60 years of age. A total of 514 such people were screened.

The entire investigation covered 1132 males and 1076 females. In which symptoms of one or the other disease were found in 503 people. In which 177 people had blood pressure, 61 had diabetes, 195 had anemia. During the investigation, 16 women were found pregnant. They were made to queue up at the higher center for better treatment and proper vigilance. Also tried to take care of them till delivery. Out of 2210 cases, 32 cases requiring specialized services were referred to the Medical College and 279 patients to the Urban Primary Health Center and UCHC for treatment and treatment was initiated as required.
