Talking about the percentage of polling in all the 17 municipal corporations in the UP municipal elections this time, the maximum turnout was 54.94 per cent in Saharanpur and the lowest was 31.35 per cent in Prayagraj. The special thing is that both the municipal corporations with maximum and minimum voting percentage are related to the first phase districts.
Due to the low voting percentage, there can be a close fight for the post of mayor in many places. The fight has been seen only between the BJP and the opposition. Amid low voter turnout in urban areas, victory will depend on whose voters turn out and exercise their franchise. In Lucknow, Agra, Mathura, Gorakhpur and Prayagraj, only 40 percent voters decided who they would elect as mayor, while more than 60 percent voters did not come out of their houses.
