Kanpur: Voting for urban body elections is being held again today at three booths of Bilhaur municipality. In fact, during the voting on Thursday, three booths in Bilhaur were captured by anarchic elements. Acid, water and ink were put in the ballot boxes. Along with this, some ballot papers were filled in the box with a stamp. Furious at the show of presence on the ballot boxes, the people created ruckus and raised slogans. On the information of the Returning Officer, the DM had sent the report to the State Election Commission. On which the Commission has ordered re-polling at these booths on Friday.

Let us inform that re-polling is being held on Thursday in Ward 16 Laxmibai Nagar, Ward 22 Lal Bahadur Shastri Nagar and Ward 25 Indra Nagar of Bilhaur Municipality. Police force has been deployed in the booths and surrounding areas for voting. Not only this, no one has been allowed to go within 200 meters of the polling station.

Anarchy occupied the booths

Let us tell you that on Thursday, the polling was done peacefully at other places in the district, but three booths of Bilhaur municipality were occupied by chaotic elements. According to the presiding officers of these booths, at 5:30 pm suddenly a group of 25-30 people Booth numbers 16, 22 and 25 broke into the security cordon and created ruckus. Along with this, water, ink and acid brought with them were poured into the ballot boxes. This created an uproar and the voters ran away from the booth in fear. Election workers also stood aside in fear.

The riotous group ran away shouting slogans. After getting the information, many candidates and agents reached there and started shouting slogans in protest. He accused MLA Rahul Bachha that his supporters captured the booth and poured acid on him. Officers also reached the spot amidst the sloganeering of the crowd. While the DM apprised the Election Commission about the sequence of events, after which the ballot papers were printed from Lucknow late on Thursday night. Re-polling will be held on Friday.

Ballot booths ordered from Lucknow were sold

After getting the permission to re-poll, the ballot papers were sent for printing from the official printing press of Lucknow State Election Commission. The ballot papers were printed from Lucknow late on Thursday night. ADM Justice Suraj Yadav was sent to Bilhaur to make arrangements for polling. Re-polling was done in all the three wards. Four polling parties were sent from Naubasta Galla Mandi for polling at 1:30 in the night.
