Sand mafia will be controlled in Bihar, mining department will have its own police, arms training to mine inspectors

In Bihar, 90 mine inspectors will also be trained in modern equipment including weapons to curb such activities including illegal sand mining and transportation. In the initial phase, this training, which will last for about two weeks, will include all the weapons, motorboats etc. available with the police. For this, the training venue of Bipard and Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department has been selected. This includes the training site of Muzaffarpur including Paliganj and Kumhrar in Patna. This decision has been taken by the Mines and Geology Department after the attack of mining mafias on mine inspectors in Bihta last days.

Mine Inspector will be honored on May 28

Along with this, the mine inspectors who were injured in the attack by the mining mafia during the operation in Bihta will be honored at a function on May 28 for their devotion to duty. Recently, after the incident of Bihta, on the instructions of the Chief Secretary, police action against the mining mafia is going on prominently in six districts of the state. For this, one company each of additional police has been deployed in Bhojpur, Saran, Rohtas, Kaimur and Vaishali districts including Patna. Those caught in this action have been instructed to file an FIR and then follow the court process in a better way.

Department will have mining police

Additional Chief Secretary of Mines and Geology Department, Harjot Kaur Bamhra told that the department will have its own mining police. Under this, 25 sub-inspectors and 250 constables will be reinstated. Very soon a meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary regarding this. The DGP of the state and she herself will be involved in this. In this meeting other issues including the form of mining police will be discussed. A proposal regarding this has been sent to the government.

increased revenue

An increase of about 54 per cent has been recorded in the revenue of the Mines and Geology Department from sand in 2022-23 as compared to the previous year. This year it was Rs 1384.46 crore while in 2021-22 it was Rs 745.44 crore.
