‘Momentum Jharkhand’ was organized on 16-17 February, 2017 with full pomp and show to bring investments to the state. More than 100 crore rupees were spent in its organization. During this, MoU was signed with 210 companies for investment of 3.39 lakh crores. Even after five years of Momentum Jharkhand, 131 of these 210 companies are not known.
Most of these companies did not turn to Jharkhand again after the MoU. Some companies tried, but they also pulled out of the project due to land or other reasons. The withdrawal of these 131 companies means that investment worth Rs 2.68 lakh crore has gone away from Jharkhand. About one lakh people had to lose their hands from employment opportunities as well. Recently, when all the companies were searched by the Industries Department, the matter came to light. The present government has ordered CID to investigate the entire matter of organizing Momentum Jharkhand.
35 companies retreated due to land :
Many investors still want to invest in the state. But they are facing difficulty regarding the land. Innova Plastomet Limited Company was looking for 10 acres of land in Adityapur to build an industrial park. But not found. The land case of Tirupati Carbon and Chemicals is pending in Palamu Forest Division. Hemkunt Aahar Private Limited has not yet received five acres of land in Hazaribagh for food processing park.
Similarly, Greentech Environment Management, Kolkata was given land in Dumka for Bio Waste Plant. But the investor wants land in Ranchi. Satyug Film Pvt Ltd also needs more than 10 acres of land for Film City, but has not yet found suitable land. Many companies did not get special cooperation from the departments, due to which they retreated.
Ahmedabad’s Divya Hitech Solar Project Private Limited wanted to set up a hybrid solar power plant here by investing Rs 300 crore. But the power companies did not enter into a power purchase agreement with him. Then this company backed down.
JSW Steel Limited also wanted to set up a power plant in the state at a cost of 35000 crores. Even with this there was the same problem that the state government should buy electricity. Not getting a mine with Ardhi Hitech Pvt Ltd is said to be a major reason. Damodar Ropeway, Kolkata also faced technical problems with the departments. At the same time, there was a different issue with many companies, due to which they have backed down. Although the Industries Department is still trying to contact them.

58 Investors not interested:
After signing the MoU, there are 58 such companies which either did not come here again or they withdrew their project after the change of government. Most of these are foreign companies. Sweden’s company Kolo Global AB with an investment proposal of 17300 crores for Affordable Housing did not take interest later. Belarus company Skyway System wanted to invest 6300 crores for the Rapid Metro Rail Project. But later she also backed down. Similarly, other companies also did not take interest later.
Succeeded in setting up the plant while facing difficulties
There are many companies in Jharkhand which, despite facing all the difficulties, were also successful in setting up plants. Balaji Packaging has started a packaging plant at Nagdi. Maithon Steel has also started production. Even though the textile company Orient Craft could not succeed in the textile park. But the readymade garments factory of this company is running in Hotwar.
Garment factory of Arvind Group has also become operational. Similarly, companies like Sarla Birla University, Matrix Clothing, Triveni Apparel, Agro Green Food Park, Hurl became operational. Lafarge also started its cement plant. There are 79 such companies which have signed MoUs, which have invested about 71 thousand crores and about 63 thousand people have been given employment by these companies.
