The textile industry of Surat is spread all over the world but the surprising thing is that Federation of Surat Textile Traders Association (FOSTA), the biggest union of the textile industry of Surat city, has not held elections for the last ten years. Due to which the directors are also protesting and the businessmen are now seen in the mood to fight against the inaction of the present president. Due to which many discussions have started in the entire city regarding the Surat textile market.
Traders locked the Fosta office
The office of the Federation of Surat Textile Traders Association (FOSTA) was gheraoed by traders today. The special thing is that due to the absence of elections in the last ten years, many things including the meeting of former directors could not be done actively. As a result, they have failed to communicate issues affecting the textile industry to the government. Currently there is an election committee appointed by FOSTA. But due to no decision being taken by them soon, the textile traders are protesting and demanding early elections.

There is a lot of anger in the textile market about the current president

Manoj Agarwal is the President of FOSTA since last many years. Despite having this industry of thousands of traders in Surat, it seems weak from the point of view of organization. The election of the organization, which should be done in a democratic manner, is not happening, like a dictatorship, for the last many years only one person is sitting on the post of president. Because of which factionalism has started among the traders. Traders are saying that FASTA's inaction is the main reason behind the division of Surat's textile industry into different unions.

Traders lodged fierce protest

Kailash Hakim, a well-known businessman in the textile industry, today J.J. Decided to sit on dharna in the market. After all, when she sat on a dharna with her supporters outside the FOSTA office, the police came to remove her from there. Kailash Hakim initially did not cooperate with the police but later reached the police station after understanding the police. He locked down the FOSTA office in the presence of supporters.

Work should be done in a democratic way: Kailash Hakim

Kailash Hakim said that when we reached the post office today, there was not even a single officer there, but when we tried to contact them on the phone, most of the phones were switched off. We request that now the functioning of FOSTA will not be done in a dictatorial manner but in a democratic manner. Despite being such a big organization, no elections are held and only the office bearers take decisions. And sometimes we feel that even those decisions are not in the interest of the traders. There is no point in continuing in office when Fosta is not ready to do any work. Now till the elections, our voice will continue to resound like this in the textile market.
