The inflation rate in Germany last April increased by 7.2% compared to the same month last year.
The German Federal Statistical Office stated today that the rate of rise in the inflation rate last April continued to decline for the second month in a row, with the rate remaining at a relatively high level.
Last March, the inflation rate in Germany reached 7.4%, below the 8% level for the first time since August 2022.
According to the office’s data, food prices increased last month by 17.2% compared to the same month of 2022, and thus the pace of increase decreased for the first time in the current year, as the annual rate of increase in the prices of these materials reached 20.2% in January, and to 21.8%. in February and to 22.3% in March.
On the other hand, the pace of rise in energy prices increased, as the rate of inflation in energy prices reached 6.8% in April, on an annual basis, after 3.5% in March.
On a monthly basis, prices rose in April by 0.4% compared to the previous month, and this result also confirmed the preliminary estimate of the office.
