The Digital Business Incubator, affiliated to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, inaugurated the seventh edition of the Creative Ideas Camp, in the presence of a number of representatives of the Digital Business Incubator partners from state institutions and the digital entrepreneurship community in Qatar and abroad, and entrepreneurs with promising ideas, who were selected to participate in the camp on over the course of six weeks.
Director of the Digital Innovation Department at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Iman Ahmed Al Kuwari, confirmed in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the opening of the camp that more than 340 applications have been registered wishing to convert ideas into companies, noting that the ideas have been evaluated. A selection of 150 ideas in several business sectors will be included in a 6-week training and mentoring program to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to embark on their entrepreneurial journey.
She added that this year’s edition of the Creative Ideas Camp is based on three main axes in terms of ideas: transportation and mobility technology, health care technology, and renewable energy technology.
She noted that the Digital Business Incubator, since its inception, has been the safe and sponsoring area for more than 270 startups, of which 165 companies have successfully completed their incubation journey, pointing out that the incubated startups have collectively achieved more than 224 million riyals of investments.
It is scheduled that 40 emerging ideas will be selected at the end of the seventh edition of the camp, to compete on the project presentation day before a specialized jury, and 25 winning ideas will receive the support and guidance of the Digital Business Incubator throughout the incubation period, and office space for two years, in addition to a package of free digital services represented by / Oracle / cloud services, / Amazon Web services /, and the suite of programs / Adobe /.
After the end of the program, the most creative ideas will have the opportunity to be incubated within the digital business incubator, in addition to winning large financial prizes totaling 300,000 riyals, including 150,000 riyals for the first place, 100,000 riyals for the second place, and 50,000 riyals for the third place.
