Surat: Covid no longer a public health global emergency: World Health Organization

The World Health Organization (WHO) has given a big relief on Friday regarding Corona. WHO said that Covid is no longer a public health global emergency. Then the 1000-bed Covid Hospital, which was started at the beginning of Corona in Surat’s Civil Hospital, was closed from Saturday. It is noteworthy that there are 64 active cases in the city. However, all of them are in home isolation. Not a single patient is admitted in the hospital. Civil Superintendent Ganesh Govekar supported the closure of Covid Hospital.

Covid Hospital was started in 2020

In 2020, a 1000-bed hospital was started in the Stem Cell building of the Civil Hospital in Surat due to the Corona epidemic. In which all the facilities including ventilator were kept. Till now lakhs of corona patients have been cured after undergoing treatment in this hospital.

Preparations were made regarding Corona at the beginning of the year itself.

The reentry of Corona was heard in Surat in December. Due to which the administration started preparations as a precaution. To deal with the situation of Corona, the municipal administration had started preparations in Smear and Civil Hospital. The cases started increasing from the month of March. In which cases started coming in double digits. Currently the cases are coming in single digit. However, they are seeing a general effect.

There are currently 64 active cases in Surat city.

Surat city reported 1106 cases in the last two months. While two patients died. Along with this, there are currently 64 active cases in Surat city. All the patients are in home isolation and not a single patient is admitted in the hospital. Last day 5 cases were reported in Surat and 18 patients were cured.
