IPL: Delhi batsmen showed power, beat Bangalore by 7 wickets

Delhi, 06 May (Hindustan Times). In the 50th match of IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 7 wickets on Saturday. At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, RCB had set a target of 182 runs for victory in front of Delhi Capitals, which the hosts achieved with 20 balls to spare. Phil Salt played a brilliant inning of 87 runs for Delhi, he was adjudged man of the match.

Chasing the target of 182 runs, the Delhi team kept a hold on the match from the very beginning. Captain David Warner and Phil Salt shared a 60-run partnership for the first wicket. The pair was broken by Hazlewood dismissing Warner (22 runs) on the first ball of the sixth over. After this, Michesh Marsh shared a 59-run partnership with Phil Salt. Marsh became the victim of Harshal Patel by scoring 26 runs in 17 balls. While bringing Delhi to the threshold of victory, Phil Salt got caught in the spin of Karn Sharma. Salt played an excellent inning of 87 runs in 45 balls with the help of 8 fours and 6 sixes. In the end, Riley Russo remained unbeaten after scoring 35 runs and Akshar Patel scored 8 runs. Delhi Capitals won the match by 7 wickets with 20 balls to spare. Josh Hazlewood, Karn Sharma and Harshal Patel got one wicket each for RCB.

Earlier, electing to bat after winning the toss, Bangalore also got off to a great start. Captain Faf Duplessis and Virat Kohli shared an 82-run partnership for the first wicket. Mitchell Marsh broke this partnership by dismissing Duplessis (45 runs). Marsh also walked Maxwell on his next ball. Maxwell could not even open an account. After this, Kohli added 55 runs for the third wicket with Mahipal Larmer. Bangalore looked to be moving towards a big score when Mukesh Kumar got Kohli out caught by Khaleel. Kohli played an inning of 55 runs. This was Kohri’s 50th half-century with the bat in IPL. In the end, Larmer remained unbeaten after scoring 54 runs. In this way Bangalore scored a score of 181 runs. Mitchell Marsh took two wickets for Delhi, while Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar got one wicket each.
