Construction of 11.56 lakh houses completed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Gujarat

Gandhinagar / Ahmedabad, 6 May (Hindustan Times). In the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Gujarat is far ahead as compared to other states of the country. A total of more than 11.56 lakh houses have been completed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the state. A total of 7.50 lakh houses have been completed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), while construction of more than 4.06 lakh houses has been completed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in the year 2015 with the aim of freeing the urban areas from slums and providing the poor class families their dream home. In view of the success and popularity of this scheme, in the year 2016, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) was also implemented for the people of rural areas.

Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), a target of 7.64 lakh houses was fixed for the state of Gujarat as per the estimated demand, against which Gujarat has sanctioned 9.54 lakh houses in excess of the fixed target. Out of these sanctioned houses, the construction of 7.50 lakh houses has been completed and the construction work of remaining houses is also progressing in different stages. There is a plan to complete the construction of more than 1 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) for the year 2023, for which the state government has made a provision of Rs 1066 crore.

An amount of Rs 2215 crore will be spent

Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), more than 4,06,000 houses have been constructed in rural areas by converting various schemes so far with basic facilities. For this, a total of Rs 4877.72 crore has been spent under this scheme. For the year 2023, a target has been set for construction of 1,84,605 ​​houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), under which financial assistance of Rs 2215.26 crore will be paid to the beneficiaries. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), the state government has also given additional assistance of Rs. Under this additional financial assistance, assistance of Rs 19.03 crore has been paid to more than 38,000 beneficiaries during the year 2022-23. In addition, an incentive amount of Rs 20,000 per beneficiary is also paid by the state government under the ‘Mukhya Mantri Protsahk Sahayata Yojana’ applicable to the beneficiaries who complete the construction of the house within six months after the payment of the first instalment. During the year 2022-23, assistance of Rs 45.13 crore has been paid to more than 22,500 such beneficiaries.

The dream of a pucca house came true with the help from the government: Kundanben

Kundanben Devmurari, a resident of Jasapar village in Surendranagar district, says, “We used to live in a kutcha house earlier. We got information about this scheme from the Government of Gujarat. We have received financial assistance of Rs 1,20,000 under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), in which first we got an installment of Rs 30,000, then 50,000 and finally we got an installment of 40,000 from the government for housing construction . We got all the installments and now our pucca house with terrace is ready. We live very peacefully and peacefully in this house and we are very thankful to Prime Minister Modi ji and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel ji for this help.

In the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Gujarat is in the front row in the entire country. It is a matter of pride for Gujarat that under the Credit Link Subsidy Component (Urban), Gujarat is at the forefront of extending the benefit of interest subvention on loans taken for their first housing to more than 5.20 lakh beneficiaries.

Application of Monolithic Concrete Construction Technology

It is noteworthy that in Rajkot, Gujarat, some of the houses to be built under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are being used for Global Housing Technology- India’s Light House technology. Under this technique, houses are being constructed using monolithic concrete construction technology. Under this project, a total of 1144 houses of EWS-2 type with carpet area of ​​39.77 square meters have been constructed in Rajkot. Jayeshbhai Soni living in Rajkot city has got the benefit of housing under LHP project. Jayeshbhai explains, “For the past 12 years, my family and I run a tiffin service and live in a rented house. We came to know that Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana forms have been issued, so we filled the form and our name came in the lucky draw. For us it was like a dream which was fulfilled by Narendrabhai and Bhupendrabhai. For this we are very grateful to both of them. The EMI of this house is also very less as compared to the rent of our old house. The future of both my daughters has also been secured from this house.
