New Delhi, 6 May (Hindustan Times). India and Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma has become the batsman with most ducks in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. Veteran batsman Rohit made this embarrassing record during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday.

Rohit did not start the innings in the match. He batted at number three while Ishan Kishan and Australian all-rounder Cameron Green opened the innings. This change in batting position did not prove to be good for the captain and he walked away without opening the account by giving a catch to Ravindra Jadeja off the bowling of Deepak Chahar.

This was Rohit’s 16th duck in the IPL, the most by any player in the history of the league. West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine, Indian batsman Dinesh Karthik and Mandeep Singh have 15 ducks each.

This season has not been good for Rohit. In 10 matches, he has scored only 184 runs at an average of 18.40 and a strike rate of 129.58. He has scored only one fifty in the tournament with a best score of 65. Talking about the match, in this match, the Mumbai team scored 139 runs for 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Nehal Vadera top-scored for Mumbai with 64 runs.
