The Selwas District and Sessions Court has sentenced the accused to 12 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000. In 2021, the young man physically assaulted the girl by calling her to a hotel in Selvas.
The details of the case are that Kalpesh Chhotubhai Chimda, a resident of Rudana of Selwas, had befriended Sunita (name changed), a resident of Kaprada area through mobile. Last on 13-12-2021, Sunita had come to her sister’s place living in Selvas. Meanwhile, Kalpesh took Sunita to a hotel. Where both of them had physical relations. Later, last week, without Sunita’s knowledge, Kalpesh had made private videos and obscene pictures viral in various WhatsApp groups. Sunita and her family were shocked to know this. It was learned that this heinous act was done by Kalpesh Chimda.
The police had registered a complaint against Kalpesh under various sections including rape and arrested him. The police had also filed a charge sheet against the accused in the court. During the hearing in the Selvas session and District Court, the public prosecutor argued with the testimony and evidence of many people including a doctor that the accused should be given maximum punishment for committing a serious act. Judge SS Adkar pronounced the important verdict imposing 12 years rigorous imprisonment and Rs 15,000 fine on the accused Kalpesh Chimda.
