Incidents of snatching mobiles from people while talking on mobile phones on the road are continuously coming to the fore in the city. The police have arrested five members of a gang involved in such snatching. The arrested accused used to carry out such incidents on four vehicles to fulfill their hobby. However, police investigation has revealed that all these people used to snatch mobile phones by targeting such areas where the people of Saurashtra live.
Due to frequent incidents of mobile snatching in Surat city, the police had launched a campaign to target mobile snatchers. Surat Crime Branch had received information that people who are talking on mobile phones or walking while looking at their mobile phones are being targeted. On the basis of this, the police arrested five people living in Varachha area of Surat.
Divya alias Divo Rameshbhai Hadiya is originally from village Rajula taluka of Amreli district and currently resides in Haridham Society in Varachha area of Surat. Whereas Pradeep alias Pado Ranchodbhai Galsania native Bhavnagar and recently Hariom Society Surat and Bhadresh Ufe Bhado Madhubhai Kalsaria, Rajdeep Bhai Jagdishbhai Dodiya, Santoshbhai Dhirubhai Kalsaria the above five friends have been known to do mobile snatching for a long time to fulfill their hobby Surat Crime Branch team got it.
Crime Branch Police has arrested all these people. However, the police were claiming to have seized maximum number of mobile phones from the arrested accused. Since four vehicles were used to execute the incident, the police proceeded further by impounding all the vehicles. The arrested accused were currently targeting pedestrians in Saurashtra dominated area Varachha and Puna village areas. Three cases have been registered against the accused arrested by the police and three in Varachha. Now the police have started further investigation by taking legal action against all these people. During the investigation, the police have also expressed the apprehension of mobile snatching etc.
