Kathmandu, 30 April (Hindustan). China’s Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song has increased his activism in the last two days. He has held meetings at the highest government level. He met three high officials in a single day on 28 April. He met Deputy Prime Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka after attending the same event with the Prime Minister.

Ambassador of China met Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat. In the meeting, China has announced to help Nepal 80 billion Nepalese rupees. Finance Minister Dr. Mahat’s private secretariat disclosed the announcement in a statement, but learned that this is not a new cooperation, but a fulfillment of a commitment made by the Chinese side in 2008.

Ambassador Song handed over the upgraded Civil Service Hospital to Nepal with Chinese assistance. Nepal’s Prime Minister Prachanda himself participated in this program. Prime Minister Prachanda not only talked about greater cooperation with China in the programme, but also openly praised Chinese President Xi Jinping. Instead of any new cooperation, China is only talking about fulfilling the commitment of the old cooperation. In the year 2019, when Xi Jinping came to Nepal, an aid of 65 billion Nepali rupees was announced. However, those promises have not yet been fulfilled.

China has been providing more grants and assistance in building infrastructure in Nepal. Specifically their grant support focuses on the main roads and archeological buildings of the Kathmandu Valley. However, with that help, it has made a strategy to build infrastructure by forcing Nepal to invest a certain percentage of money.
