Gang betting on IPL matches busted, six bookies arrested

Ghaziabad, 29 April (Hindustan Times). Kavinagar police has busted the online betting gang in IPL cricket matches. The police have arrested six members of this gang. 08 mobiles and 83 thousand rupees used for online betting have been recovered from their possession.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Nipun Agarwal said that for the last few days complaints were being received about online betting in IPL cricket matches. Taking immediate cognizance of which a team was formed to prevent the said crime. The team raided Shastri Nagar on Saturday and arrested six people.

Among those arrested are Vipin Luthra, s/o Baldevraj Luthra, resident of Nehru Nagar, Dinesh Kumar Goyal alias Dhannu, resident of Panchavati Kotwali, Anil Chaudhary, resident of Mahendra Enclave police station, Kavignar, Saurabh Dhingra, resident of Shriram Apartment, Sourav Yadav, resident of Mahar Vihar police station, Vijaynagar and Prince Chaudhary.

During interrogation, the accused told that we make many times profit by getting people’s money to bet by making them win-win in IPL matches. We make a living from the commission we get from this. This is the support of our livelihood. Yesterday, when we were betting on IPL matches, we were caught by the police.
