Prime Minister Modi reached Chandigarh, paid tribute to Prakash Singh Badal

Chandigarh, 26 April (Hindustan Times). After the death of former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Chandigarh on Wednesday to pay tribute to him. The Prime Minister reached Chandigarh after changing his pre-scheduled programs.

Here Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal and Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit received Prime Minister Modi. The Prime Minister reached the Akali Dal office directly from the Technical Airport in Chandigarh and met Sukhbir Badal and other family members here after paying his last respects to Parkash Singh Badal. The Prime Minister spent about ten minutes with the Badal family.

Parkash Singh Badal died on Tuesday night at Fortis Heart Hospital in Mohali. After Badal’s death, his body was kept at the Akali Dal headquarters in Chandigarh on Wednesday morning. Where Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Prakash Singh Badal while paying his last visit.

Earlier Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, former Punjab Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, Patiala MP Preneet Kaur, Haryana Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta , Punjab BJP President Ashwani Sharma, Union Minister Som Prakash, Punjab Cabinet Ministers Harpal Cheema and Harjot Bains paid tributes to him.

Chautala became emotional after paying tribute to Badal

The friendship of Badal and Chautala has been an example in the politics of Haryana and Punjab. Late Devi Lal had performed the Kanyadaan of Prakash Singh Badal’s daughter. Whenever there was a political crisis in both the families, Badal and Chautala supported each other. After being out of active politics, Badal and Chautala used to gather frequently at Teja Kheda farm house for the last two years. Om Prakash Chautala got emotional after paying tribute to Prakash Singh Badal on Wednesday and could not hold back his tears.
