Ahmedabad, 26 April (Hindustan). Gujarat High Court judge Geeta Gopi refused to hear Rahul Gandhi’s revision application in the defamation case on Modi surname, saying ‘not before me’.

Acting Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court AJ Desai is likely to decide a new bench for the hearing on Thursday. It is expected that after a brief hearing in the court on Thursday, the next date may also be fixed. Due to this, Rahul Gandhi’s petition may be heard in the coming days.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had challenged the Gujarat High Court on Tuesday, a day before, against the decision of his 2-year sentence by the Surat Sessions Court. Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer Pankaj Champaneri had demanded for urgent circulation in the Gujarat High Court on Wednesday. After this, an immediate hearing was held on this.

Congress Rahul Gandhi’s counsel in the Gujarat High Court, Champaneri, mentioned the matter before the court of Justice Geeta Gopi and sought an urgent hearing. After a brief hearing, the court said, “Mere saamne nahi (Not before me).”

After this development in the Gujarat High Court, Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer Pankaj Champaneri said that now a note will be sent to the Acting Chief Justice to transfer the matter to some other court. The Chief Justice will fix a single bench for the hearing. Champaneri said a request was made to move the matter to the court of Justice Gita Gopi, as her court hears cases challenging lower court orders.
