The sale of mineral water is in full swing during summer. In which many people are taking advantage by using it illegally. BIS Surat has raided a Mota Varachha area mineral water manufacturing company producing packaged drinking water with bogus brand instead of Bureau of Indian Standards approved ISI brand. A factory with fake ISI mark of Naklang Marketing brand was sealed during a raid at the factory located at Mota Varachha opposite BRTS bus stand near VIP Circle.
Action against seller for illegal packing of water
On April 21, 2023, a search operation was conducted at Santashree Valmaram Water Supply Company owned by Chetanbhai Haribhai. This was done on the basis of information by the Indian Standards authorities that the Bureau was manufacturing packaged drinking water without obtaining a valid licence. Where the Bureau of Indian Standards (ISI) mark was misused on bottled drinking water. During the raid, 12 fake ISI marked jars of 20 liters each of Naklang Marketing brand were seized as evidence.
Panic among sellers of mineral water
Many such factories selling mineral water are flourishing in the city, if probed deeply, many companies are giving second water to the people in the name of mineral water. In a way, these packaging water selling companies are playing with the health of the people. This product comes under mandatory certification as per the rules of Government of India, according to which the product cannot be manufactured without obtaining ISI mark license from BIS.
