Despite the unseasonal rains, there has been a reduction in prices by about 35 to 40 per cent this year due to the good yield of mangoes. The way it was raining unseasonally every month, there was a possibility of damage to the mango crop, but the mango crop remained good.

Mango production this year better than last year

Santosh Mishra, associated with mango business for the last several years and doing mango business in Surat under the name of Shivam Kerry Bhandar, said that this year’s mango production was good as compared to last year. This is the reason that this year mango prices have decreased by about 35 to 40 percent as compared to last year. He told that Rajapuri, which was 2000 to 2200 per head last year, is being sold for only 1200 to 1400 rupees this year. While Ratnagiri Hapus was 4000 to 5000 rupees last year, which is being sold at the rate of 1800 to 2000 this year.

Fear of damage to mango crop due to recent unseasonal rains

Similarly, last year saffron was sold at 3000 to 3500 per diem, which is being sold at the rate of 1600 to 1800 per diem this year. While Ratnagiri’s pyari was 4000 per man last year, while this year 1500 to 2000 per man (20 kg) is being sold. He, however, feared damage to the mango crop due to the recent unseasonal rains.
