Contacted by AGORA, the MFAIE representatives reiterated that following an extensive analysis of the CIS treaties, to which the Republic of Moldova is a party, it was found that our country’s participation in several agreements was inappropriate.

The MAEIE together with the competent national institutions has carried out an extensive analysis of the opportunity to maintain the status of the Republic of Moldova as a state party to the CIS treaties. Following the analysis, it was found that the continuation of our country’s participation in several sectoral cooperation treaties is considered inappropriate. As a result, the national authorities have started the process of denouncing those treaties. We mention at the same time that the absolute priority of the Republic of Moldova is the accession to the European Union, and other foreign policy objectives will be subordinated to this national desire.
