New Delhi, 19 April (Hindustan Times). Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said on Wednesday that with the joint efforts of all, we will make the country drug-free by the year 2047. Achieving this goal requires a shared effort. Together we have to fulfill this resolution.

Addressing the two-day first national conference of Anti-Narcotics Task Force of States and Union Territories, Union Home Minister Shah said that drug addiction makes any country hollow. We have to stand against drug addiction. We need to make this campaign of drug free India a mass movement.

He said that the person who consumes drugs is a Victim. The real culprit is the drug dealer. It is our priority to curb this trade. Keeping this in mind, the Narcotics Control Bureau is continuously working.

The Union Home Minister further said that since 2014, more than five thousand people involved in drug trade have been arrested. Shah said that the central government is ready to walk step by step with the states under the drug de-addiction campaign.

It is notable that the central government is serious about stopping the sale and purchase of drugs. To strengthen this initiative, the Home Minister addressed the first National Conference of Heads of States/UTs of Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF).
