Qatargas recently supplied a cargo of LNG to the Damra terminal, the newest LNG receiving terminal in India, on board the Milaha Ras Laffan tanker in April 2023.
Qatargas sold LNG on a “delivery at mutually agreed point” basis to French energy company Total, which in turn delivered it to its 50-50 joint venture with Adani Group, Adani Total Private Limited.
Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, CEO of Qatargas, said: “The delivery of this LNG cargo to the Indian Damra terminal is an important achievement for our company and for the LNG industry in the State of Qatar. We are committed to meeting the growing demand for clean energy in India and around the world. Our reliable and secure supply of LNG will help India meet its energy needs and contribute to its economic growth. Qatargas remains committed to achieving sustainability in its business and delivering value to its customers, partners and stakeholders.”
He added, “I would like to thank our valued partner, Total Energy, for its contribution to this successful delivery of this cargo. Our partnership has been instrumental in helping us achieve this milestone, and we look forward to continuing to work together to bring clean and reliable energy to the world.”
Thomas Morris, Senior Vice President LNG at Total Energies, said: “We are pleased to have completed the first LNG delivery to the new Damra LNG terminal with a cargo from Qatargas, our longtime strategic partner. This new LNG terminal will contribute to securing India’s energy supply and is in line with Total Energy’s ambition to support India’s energy transition and its goal of increasing the share of natural gas to 15% of the energy mix by 2030.”
