The resignation request was sent to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office on Friday, April 14.

The interim deputy of the Chief Prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, Mihail Ivanov requested the suspension of the interim exercise with the continued exercise of the position of prosecutor within the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. The request for suspension was made in connection with the redistribution of duties among the deputies. Mr. Ivanov considering that for the new domain assigned to him, another person could be more suitable.

The departure from the position happens 5 months after the appointment. More precisely, at the meeting of November 1, 2022, the members of the Superior Council of Prosecutors approved the appointment of Mihail Ivanov and Vasile Plevan for the position of interim deputy heads of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.

Previous, The Guard newspaper wrote that Mihail Ivanov was appointed as a prosecutor in the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office in November 2010. He was managing the criminal investigation in the file regarding the illegal financing of the Political Party “ŞOR”. Ivanov is also the leader of the investigation group in the case of the 13 defecting ex-deputies.

In the same way, Mihail Ivanov managed the criminal investigation in the “Air Moldova” privatization case, as well as in the case of the auctions of hundreds of millions of lei won by the “Bass System” company.
