“I wish you to meet the Easter holiday with faith, united, illuminated by the hugs of your loved ones and confident that good always overcomes evil. That peace will prevail.

Our forefathers kept alive the traditions of our nation as a lasting bond between the people of this land. Now it’s our turn to carry on the legacy that binds us. This is our strength – the things that unite us and make us better with each other”, wrote Maia Sandu.

In his message, Zelensky said that the Ukrainian people greeted the Easter holiday with great faith in victory.

“Today we celebrate Easter with unshakable faith in our victory.

We have already come a long way. Perhaps the most difficult of peaks awaits us. We will overcome it. And together we will meet our dawn, when the sun will rise over our whole country. This is a blue and yellow flag. It will surely be exalted throughout our God-given earth, in all territories temporarily occupied by devils. The sun will shine in the south, the sun will shine in the east, and the sun will shine in the Crimea. The yellow-hot sun in a peaceful blue sky, and it is the light of justice. Christ is risen!” wrote Volodymyr Zelensky.

An estimated 250 million Orthodox Christians around the world celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ each year according to the Julian calendar.
