Defamation case filed against Rahul Gandhi in Pune Sessions Court, hearing on April 15

Mumbai, 13 April (Hindustan Times). A defamation case has been filed in the Pune Sessions Court by Veer Savarkar’s grandson Satyiki Savarkar for making derogatory statements about Veer Savarkar against former Congress President Rahul Gandhi. The hearing of the matter has been fixed on April 15.

Satyaki Savarkar told reporters on Thursday that Rahul Gandhi had made derogatory statements against Veer Savarkar during his visit to London. Rahul Gandhi had said that Savarkar and his five-six friends were killing a Muslim man together, at that time Savarkar was happy. Rahul Gandhi had said that he has written this in his book. Satyiki Savarkar said that Rahul Gandhi is defaming freedom fighter Savarkar through this fictional story.

Satyaki said that Rahul Gandhi is making such statements without facts only for vote bank. For this reason, he has filed a defamation claim against Rahul Gandhi in the Pune Sessions Court. For the hearing of this matter, the court has given the date of April 15 for the hearing. Satyaki said that during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in November 2022, Rahul Gandhi had made a derogatory statement about Savarkar, the BJP and the RSS at a rally in Washim district.

At that time Rahul Gandhi had said that on one hand there is a great personality like Birsa Munda, who did not bow down before the British and on the other hand there is Savarkar who apologized to the British. Earlier also Rahul Gandhi had made such statements about Veer Savarkar. His membership of Parliament has been canceled after he was sentenced to two years by the Surat court in the case of defamation of Modi surname.
