Orange Foundation, Future Technologies Project and “Alecu Russo” State University from Balti – a partnership for inclusion and digital education in northern Moldova

The trilateral partnership provides for the expansion of collaboration to improve the environment and infrastructure for research, innovation, technology transfer and continued development of the Nortek Technology Transfer and Innovation Center. Thus, about 4500 students, young specialists and entrepreneurs from Balti and the region will enjoy programs, equipment and spaces to develop their technological and entrepreneurial skills and to be prepared for the professions of the future.

The cooperation agreement between Orange Moldova, the Technologies of the Future Project and the “Alecu Russo” State University in Balti marks the accumulation of efforts to help society and support it during its digital transformation. The partnership also offers new opportunities for the development of Nortek and its institutional capacity, the advancement of innovations, research and the digital transformation of the northern region of the country, but also the increase of the innovation potential in various fields of science.

Technology is changing at an amazing speed, and the ability to adapt to technology is becoming a goal we can achieve together. The Technologies of the Future project, funded by USAID, Sweden and Great Britain – in partnership with Orange and “Alecu Russo” State University from Balti, we invest in education and the digital ecosystem in the Republic of Moldova. Nortek is the place where young people, students and professionals in the North area can be inspired for digital careers, take professional reorientation courses and have contact with new technologies.

By signing the cooperation agreement, Orange Moldova, together with the Orange Foundation, strengthens its role as a social actor involved in the inclusion and digital education of society and reconfirms its role as a technological partner of the Nortek Center for Innovation and Technological Transfer.

Orange Moldova Foundation was established in 2009, as part of the international organization of the same name. Until now, thanks to his investments, more than a hundred social projects have been developed, worth about 100 million lei. The Orange Moldova Foundation develops projects in four key areas: education and digital education; social aid to the population; health and disability; culture. Beneficiaries of the projects of the Orange Moldova Foundation are more than 400 thousand people from all over the country.

Future Technologies Project in Moldova, funded by USAID, Sweden and Great Britain supports the development of the digital, creative and environmentally friendly economy in Moldova. The project, with a budget of 52.8 million USD and an implementation duration of 5 years (2021-2026), promotes, in a team with key partners, innovation and new technologies in the following strategic sectors for the Republic of Moldova – information and communication technology (ICT), engineering, light industry, creative industries and digital media – to increase their competitiveness and integration in the global market.
