The signing of a contract between the Qatari Urbacon consortium and the Egyptian Elsewedy with the General Electricity Company in Libya to establish the Zliten power station with a production capacity of 1044 megawatts

The Libyan General Electricity Company signs an agreement for the construction and implementation of the Zliten gas power station project with the consortium of the Qatari company Urbacon and the Egyptian El Sewedy, with a total production capacity of 1044 megawatts, at a value of 1,119,503,348 euros. Where the agreement was signed by Mr. Mohamed Al-Mashai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Electricity Company, and Mr. Ramez Mohamed Al-Khayyat, Managing Director of Arbacon Holding Company, in the presence of His Excellency the President of the Libyan National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Urbacon Holding, Mr. Mohamed Moataz Al-Khayyat.

Where the agreement included the terms of the additional works that are included in connecting the station to the public network, discharging the energy produced from it, and the gas line needed to feed the station, with a length of 32 km. Gas turbines made of German Siemens will be used, as well as compressors, transformers and spare parts. The project will be implemented over a period of 26 months. This project comes as part of Urbacon Holding’s strategy for international expansion, as it is ranked 105 globally and first in the Arab and African countries, according to ENR.
