Mowasalat Company (Karwa), the official transportation provider in the State of Qatar, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the bus manufacturer, Yutong, to develop joint research and studies on the use of electric vehicles in the field of logistics services. The memorandum was signed by Mr. Fahad Saad Al-Qahtani, CEO of Mowasalat Company (Karwa), and Mr. Shen Hui, CEO of Yutong Middle East, in March 2023.
The memorandum of understanding included many areas of cooperation between the two companies, including encouraging the use and development of electric vehicles in the commercial sector in Qatar, joint research projects to convert to electric vehicles, and research concerned with promoting safe driving and raising the operational efficiency of electric vehicles. This memorandum comes as an additional step in the framework of Mowasalat Company (Karwa) to achieve a healthy and sustainable environment.
On this occasion, Mr. Fahad Saad Al-Qahtani, CEO of Mowasalat Company (Karwa), said:
“We are the main provider of transportation services in Qatar, and therefore we are aware of our environmental responsibility towards the country. We are pleased to conclude this memorandum with Yutong, as this cooperation will help us achieve our goal of encouraging the use of clean energy and reducing carbon emissions. We also look forward to working with Yutong on joint research to develop the use of electric vehicles for logistics services, as well as other initiatives in the field of renewable energy.”

Over the past years, Mowasalat Company (Karwa) has been committed to reducing carbon emissions and promoting clean energy in the State of Qatar. In the Qatar Championship 2022, the company provided electric buses and electric limousine services within the public transport fleet, and these services met with great success. By encouraging the use of electric vehicles for commercial purposes and conducting joint research on battery recycling, the company continues to contribute to the development of the electric transportation system and the creation of a green environment for future generations.
