6 Qatari banks are among the top 500 brands in the world

The Secretary General of the Union of Arab Banks, Dr. Wissam Fattouh, announced the entry of 6 Qatari banks into the list of the 500 best banking brands in the world for the year 2022.
This is based on an analytical study issued by the General Secretariat of the Union of Arab Banks, and the banks’ ranking according to brand value are: QNB Group “Qatar National Bank”, Commercial Bank, Qatar Islamic Bank, Masraf Al Rayan, Doha Bank, Qatar International Islamic Bank. The total value of the brands of these banks was about $10.3 billion. The total market capitalization of these banks amounted to about $85.6 billion.
The Qatar National Bank Group won the title of the most valuable banking brand in the Middle East and Africa for the year 2023, and it ranked 45th globally. Noting that the value of the banking brand of the Qatar National Bank Group has increased from $7.0 billion in 2021 to $7.7 billion in 2022, achieving a growth rate of 7.9%.
The Commercial Bank ranked second locally, 16th in the Arab world, and 235th globally. Followed by Qatar Islamic Bank ranked third locally, 17th in the Arab world, and 253rd globally, then Masraf Al Rayan ranked fourth locally, 20th in the Arab world, and 272nd globally, Doha Bank ranked fifth locally, 30th in the Arab world, and 361st globally, and finally, Qatar Islamic Bank ranked sixth locally, 36th in the Arab world, and 456th globally.
The data published by The Banker magazine issued in February 2023, which includes the 500 largest banking brands in the world, showed that 39 Arab banks entered the aforementioned list, compared to 40 banks in 2021. The total banking brands of the 39 Arab banks amounted to about $49.3 billion, compared to $41.9 billion. One billion dollars in 2021, and the total market capitalization of these banks amounted to about $572.8 billion.
Saudi Arabia recorded the largest number of Arab banks that entered the aforementioned list, as 10 Saudi banks were included, followed by the UAE (9 banks), Qatar (6 banks), Kuwait (5 banks), each of Egypt and Morocco (3 banks), and a bank One each in Jordan, Oman and Bahrain.
