5862 new cars, a monthly decline of 8.2%

The Planning and Statistics Authority has issued the one hundred and tenth issue of the Bulletin (Qatar; Monthly Statistics), which is a series of statistical bulletins issued on a monthly basis. In this issue, the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during February 2023 were highlighted, in addition to extracts from the results of the 2020 census.
Among the most prominent changes in this issue is the decline in the general market index (points) at a monthly rate of 3.3%, offset by a decrease in the value of traded shares at a monthly rate of 16.1% (for January 2023), in addition to a decrease in total credit deposits by 1.0%, while the total facilities increased. Credit by 0.1% (for the month of January 2023).
Demographic data showed an increase in the total population residing in the country from 2.81 million in February 2022 to 2.98 million in February 2023, at an annual rate of change of 6.1%, and a monthly increase of 0.9% (compared to January 2023).
With regard to vital statistics, the total number of live births reached 2055 births during February 2023, and the total number of Qatari live births decreased by 5.6% compared to last month, while the total number of deaths reached 213 registered deaths, a decrease of 9.7% compared to January 2023.
February 2023 witnessed a monthly decrease of 8.6% and 17.2% in the total number of marriage contracts and the total divorce certificates, respectively, as the total number of marriage contracts reached 310 marriage contracts, while the total number of divorce certificates reached 106 divorce cases.
As for social security data, it amounted to 77 million Qatari riyals in February 2023 for 14,245 beneficiaries, recording a monthly decrease of 1.2% for the value of social security. It also witnessed a monthly decrease of 0.3% for the number of beneficiaries from social security.
As for the banking sector, the value of the broad money supply (2) amounted to about 702 billion riyals during February 2023, recording an annual increase of 11.3% compared to February 2022, while the value of quasi-money, which includes deposits of commercial banks, amounted to about 950 billion Qatari riyals. During the month of February 2023, recording an annual decrease of 1.5% compared to February 2022, when the total deposits at that time were about 964 billion Qatari riyals.
With regard to data on building permits issued, the total number of permits reached 644 permits during the month of February 2023, recording a monthly decrease of 10.7%, and an annual decrease of 7.6%.
With regard to new registered vehicles, the bulletin indicated that the total number of registered vehicles during the month of February 2023 amounted to 5,862 new vehicles, registering a monthly decrease of 8.2%, and an annual decrease of 15.0%.
As for data related to traffic accident cases, excluding accidents without injuries, their total number reached 668 during February 2023, recording a monthly decrease of 15.2%. And an annual decrease of 2.1%. Light injuries recorded the vast majority of traffic accident cases during the same month at a rate of 91%, followed by severe injuries at a rate of 7%. As for deaths, it amounted to 13 deaths, equivalent to only 2% of the total traffic accident cases.
As for tourism, the total number of inbound visitors amounted to about 389 thousand visitors, recording a monthly increase of 14.3% (from January 2023). It also increased annually by 406.3% (for February 2022). The largest number of visitors came from the GCC countries by 38%. As for visitors according to the type of port, visitors by air constituted the highest percentage in the future, 44% of the total number of visitors.
