2nd G20 ‘Empower’ meeting in Thiruvananthapuram from 4th to 6th April

The grouping’s second ‘Empower’ meeting under India’s chairmanship of the G20 will be held in Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram from April 4 to 6 to deliberate on taking forward the country’s women-centric development agenda. The first G20 ‘Empower’ meeting was held on 11-12 February in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.

“The Empowerment and Advancement of Women’s Economic Representation of the G20 (Empower) is a coalition of G20 business leaders and governments that aims to advance the leadership and empowerment of women in the private sector,” said a government release issued on Monday. ‘

It said that the theme of the second G20 Empower meeting is ‘Empowering Women: An Encouraging Position for Participation and the Economy’. Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai will attend the meeting. Dr. Sangita Reddy, Chairperson of G20 Empower 2023 will also be present in the meeting.

The opening session of the meeting will be on the theme ‘Achieving Economic Prosperity through Women’s Empowerment: Towards the 25-25 Brisbane Goals’ followed by group discussions.
