Steel, power, cement companies got the maximum number of coal blocks in the sixth round of auction

Steel, power and cement companies bagged the maximum number of mines in the sixth round of coal block auctions. According to an official note, JSW Steel has Banai and Bhalumunda mines in Chhattisgarh, Parbatpur Central and Sitanala mines in Jharkhand.

While JSW Cement has acquired Marvatola-6 mine in Madhya Pradesh. Jindal Power has won the Gare Palma Sector-I, Gare Palma 4/2 and Gare Palma 4/3 coal mines located in Chhattisgarh.

Roongta Sons Pvt Ltd has acquired the Sakhigopal-B Kankili and Chendipada (revised) blocks in Odisha and the Choritand Tiliaya mine in Jharkhand. RCR Steel Works has won the Patal East (eastern part) block located in Jharkhand, while Orissa Metallurgical Industry has bagged the Kagra Joydev mine in West Bengal.

Cement companies… Ambuja Cements Ltd has acquired the Dahegaon-Gowari mine in Maharashtra, while UltraTech Cement has got the Arjuni East block in Madhya Pradesh. Dalmia Cement (India) has acquired Mandla North in Madhya Pradesh, Rama Cement Industries has acquired 1 Marvatola – Seven in Madhya Pradesh and Shree Cement has acquired Datima Mine in Chhattisgarh.

As per the list, CG Natural Resources has acquired the Purunga mine in Chhattisgarh and MH Natural Resources the Madheri mine North-West in Maharashtra. Coal Pulj has bagged the Namchik Namphuk block in Arunachal Pradesh, while Mahaveer Coal Industries has bagged the Dongeri Tal-II block in Madhya Pradesh. Similarly, Samlok Industries has acquired the Kalambi Kalmeshwar (Western part) block in Maharashtra and MP Natural Resources has acquired the Gondbera Ujheni block in Madhya Pradesh.

Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) has won Burapahar and Vaitarani West mines in Odisha. In Jharkhand, Shrisatya Mines has bagged Burakhap small patch mine and Assam Mineral Development Corporation (AMDC) has bagged Binja coal block. Ganga Minerals has got the Arjuni West block in Madhya Pradesh.

The Ministry of Coal has signed agreements for 29 coal mines awarded under the sixth round of auction on 29 March. With the coming into operation of these mines, one lakh employment opportunities are expected to be created.
