Under the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti initiative, infrastructure projects worth about Rs 5 lakh crore have been recommended so far in the current financial year. A senior official gave this information on Thursday.

These include 66 major infrastructure projects of various ministries. These projects have been recommended by the Network Planning Group (NPG) constituted under the PM Gatishakti initiative launched in October 2021. Sumita Davra, Special Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) said that every ministry should take the PM Gati Shakti concept down to the grass root level, so that every district magistrate, officer and state can be equally involved in it.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 13 October 2021 launched Gati Shakti – National Master Plan to reduce logistics cost.

Davra told reporters here, “The total cost of 66 big projects (worth more than Rs 500 crore each) is going to be around Rs five lakh crore. During the last eight months, these were assessed on the basis of momentum power principles.

These projects include Rs 6,931 crore Gurdaspur-Jammu-Srinagar natural gas pipeline, Rs 30,502 crore Chennai-Trichy-Tuticorin Expressway project and Rs 922 crore Marwar Industrial Area.
