Finance Minister presented a budget of 1.16 lakh crores

The Jharkhand government on Friday presented a budget of Rs 1.16 lakh crore for the financial year 2023-24 in the assembly. The budget estimate for the financial year 2023-24 is 15 percent more than the previous annual financial statement (budget). The Hemant Soren government presented a budget of Rs 1.01 lakh crore for the financial year 2022-23.

Presenting the budget in the Assembly, Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon said, “I present a budget of Rs 1,16,418 crore in the House for the financial year 2023-24.”

Members of the opposition BJP and AJSU walked out of the House in protest during the Finance Minister’s budget speech. Finance Minister Oraon announced that a campaign would be launched at a cost of Rs 50 crore to promote the production of millets in the state.

He said that the budget would fulfill the aspirations of the poor, downtrodden and bring about all-round development in the entire state. The minister said that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition government has introduced several innovative schemes, which will pave the way for rapid development of the state.
