Rahul Gandhi has been asked to vacate his official bungalow at Tughlaq Lane in Delhi’s Lutyens’ Zone following his disqualification as a Member of Parliament. According to the officials, notice has also been sent to Rahul Gandhi for this, while the Congress officials are still refusing to receive any notice. However, officials claim that as per rules, Rahul Gandhi will have to vacate the house within a month.

Talking about the case, the District Court of Surat, Gujarat, convicted Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in a criminal defamation case filed in 2019 with ‘Modi surname’ and sentenced him to two years. However, later Rahul Gandhi got bail from the court. Following Gandhi’s conviction in the case, he was disqualified for membership of the Lok Sabha on Friday. In the notification issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, it has been said that the order of his disqualification will be effective from March 23. BJP MLA and former Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi had filed a case against him. Gandhi has been convicted under sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code, with a maximum punishment of two years.
