People traveling more than planes, the number of passengers of domestic flights increased

The number of domestic air passengers in India increased by 56.82 per cent to 12 million in February this year as compared to the same period last year. This information was received from the data released on Monday by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

A total of 76.96 lakh passengers traveled on local routes by all domestic airlines in February 2022. Indigo accounted for the largest share in the traffic growth.

IndiGo flights carried 67.42 lakh passengers last month, which accounted for 55.9 per cent of the total domestic passenger traffic in February 2023. Whereas Air India, Asia Asia India and by extension a total of 29.75 lakh people traveled in the month under review.

SpiceJet’s capacity utilization was highest at 91 per cent in terms of average number of passengers arriving at four major airports namely Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, while for IndiGo it was 88.8 per cent.
