Sources in the Lieutenant Governor’s office said on Tuesday that the Home Ministry has approved the Delhi government’s budget and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has been informed about it. This statement came after a dispute arose between the Center and the Delhi government on the issue.

Earlier today, Delhi Finance Minister Kailash Gehlot had said that the budget file has been sent again to the Union Home Ministry for its approval. “The home ministry has cleared the budget and the same has been conveyed to the Delhi government,” said a source.

Gehlot had said in the morning that the budget file has been sent both directly and through email for approval to the Home Ministry. Significantly, the Delhi government’s budget for the year 2023-24 was to be presented on Tuesday, which has been stopped and in this regard, the Arvind Kejriwal-led government and the central government have accused each other of allocation in various items.

After the chief minister accused the Centre, sources in the home ministry had said the ministry has sought an explanation from the AAP-led government as its budget proposal had excessive allocation of funds for advertisements instead of infrastructure and other development initiatives. .
