Congress leaders and workers will on Sunday hold a one-day satyagraha in front of the statues of Mahatma Gandhi to protest against the disqualification of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha. According to the party, expressing solidarity with Rahul Gandhi, this ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ will be held in front of the statues of Mahatma Gandhi in all the provinces and districts. It starts from 10 am and will continue till 5 pm.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several other Congress leaders will attend the ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ organized at Rajghat in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi, representing Kerala’s Wayanad parliamentary seat, was on Friday disqualified from the Lok Sabha in the wake of his being sentenced to two years in jail by a Surat court in a 2019 defamation case.

In a notification issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, it has been said that his disqualification order will be effective from March 23. It is noteworthy that a court in Surat had given this decision regarding the remark regarding “Modi surname”.

Rahul Gandhi has claimed that he was disqualified from the Lok Sabha because Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scared that his next speech in Parliament was going to be on the Adani case.

Party’s organization general secretary KC Venugopal said in a letter sent to all the state units, “Rahul Gandhi is not alone in this fight for justice, lakhs of Congressmen and crores of people are standing with him.” We will do satyagraha in support of our leader and his fearless fight.
